For more than 30 years, RENOLIT has been subjecting its films for outdoor use to systematic weathering tests – by conducting both Xenotests in the laboratory and real time testing out in the open. “It is only the results of the open-air weathering tests in Germany, the South of France, Florida and Arizona that clearly show us what our products are fully capable of,” says Ralph Kleiner, who as sales manager looks after international markets and key accounts of the RENOLIT EXTERIOR business unit.

New materials thanks to long-term tests

This empirical data is generally only produced after more than ten years of natural weathering and among other things it provided the foundation for the concept of RENOLIT EXOFOL PX: even better protection from intense solar radiation, from which even films in shades of white benefit. A transparent layer of specifically developed polyacrylate protects the printing ink and plasticizer-free base film, which improves the weather resilience and extends the service life. Among others, RENOLIT EXOFOL PX meets the requirements according to RAL-GZ 716 and surpasses all industry standards in almost every single test criterion.

The market launch of the new high-performance film began in 2014 in Spain, where RENOLIT EXOFOL PX is now exclusively ordered. The same is true of Italy, and the product is also advancing fast in France, North Africa and South America. According to Ralph Kleiner, as well as the technical strengths, the crucial factor influencing sales is a warranty of up to 10 years in these regions. In Central Europe, it is in fact 15 years, which has now also prompted the largest window manufacturer in Poland to switch its entire range over to RENOLIT EXOFOL PX. However, the actual useful service life is much longer and thus also meets the expectations of German clients, who expect their windows to last even up to 40 years.

Sales doubled

Manufacturers of structural components are increasingly making themselves stand out from the competition by offering quality features. This is one of the reasons why the sales of RENOLIT EXOFOL PX doubled in the last year compared to 2014. The sales manager also sees further opportunities for growth in South America where windows comprising PVC profiles can score points for their excellent soundproofing properties, which means that their market share is set to increase dramatically in the years ahead. With this trend in mind, the company has significantly expanded the stock range collection for RENOLIT EXOFOL PX and also presented four new oak finishes at the Fensterbau Frontale trade show.
